Cafe | The Core by The Mechanic

Hello to all my fellow bloggers. I'm back with a cafe post. I feel like it's been a long time since I post about my cafe adventures. I have to admit that I seldom go and hangout at cafes these days, first because of quarantine and second is because I have no one to hang out with so I just stay at home. I was out with my family to run a few errands for my dad and then my sister wants to have a drink so we started to look for nearby cafes and the closest was Niko Neko 2.0 but sadly that cafe is close on Monday so we went to Cheras for our second option, Core By The Mechanic.

Core By The Mechanic cafe is the sister of The Mechanic in Balakong and by that, I know that Core is a non-halal cafe. Upon entering, the waitress came up to us and whisper to us quietly that they serves non-halal food and we said that we're okay with that because we were just wanted to drink, then she took our temperatures and led us in, inside it was a little crowded which I hate especially during this pandemic so we stay away from everyone as far as possible and luckily there was a table near the door.

Located at a retail space in Medan Connaught, it's so easy to be missed because on first glimpse, you might think that there's no way there's a cafe at this area because most of the retail space is empty and unoccupied. However, I really like the fact how friendly the workers are, from the front door to ordering inside and to getting our drinks, they are super friendly.

I was craving for coffee and the barista recommended their Iced White Coffee (RM12) because the Rose Latte was sold out so I went with that. And my sister who's also a coffee addict opt for the Iced Ranoha Chocolate drink (RM16), she said she wasn't in the mood for a coffee. My brother-in-law waited for us in the car with the baby while we take tons of photos and videos. We did not plan on dine-in because my dad was not feeling well and he feels better in the car.

I love the interior because it's so simple and minimalistic just like The Mechanic in Balakong. The seating however is pretty close between each tables so I am thankful to find a one that's far from others. But to be honest, inside was not that full since you can see, there's plenty of vacant seats left. How I wish I could order something to eat but time constraint, we have to rush back home. I heard that Core's French Fries is really good, I can't wait to come back and try the fries with the Rose Latte.

The parking was a bit of a hassle since the area is a very small, and you need a Touch n Go card to enter the building lot so that's the only downside I guess. Other than that, I really recommend everyone to try their beverages. I'm not sure about the desserts though but maybe you can ask them if you planning on visiting.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
After we're done with photo taking, we took our drinks and take more photos outside where there's a couple of spot outside that one of them is somehow ended up on other people's photo because the structure of the building was a bit unique and the minimalistic of it just made it even more instagrammable. But unfortunately there's a line at the unique structure spot so we just take our photos at the second spot which was store sign. With the whole covid thing, cramming with other people for just an instagrammable photo is the last thing that I care about. I saved my coffee to drink at home to have with the birthday cake that my sister bought for me. It taste even better with something sweet.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

After we had our coffee and just chatting away, we said that we should do this more often and so we started making a list of cafes that are kid-friendly but yet beautifully designed for us to visit later. But not long after we made that little list and even mark our calendars for off days and which cafes that closes on Monday, the government dropped the CMCO bomb which was unexpected and sort of disappointed but a necessary move to prevent further severe Covid-19 cases. Well, at least it gives us something to look forward to once this CMCO ended.

This is the end of my October favourites. I hope you all are safe wherever you are.
Thank you for reading. Much love, T.

    1. Kan? Sebab cafe dorang yang sebelum ni pun kena macam tu juga. Masa tunggu turn nak masuk tu dorang keluar and bisik dorang cafe non-halal. Maybe sebab taknak customer leaving rasa hampa, so baik bgtau awal2 haha

Tqa pun baru buat coffee tadi sebab craving hahaha I did tried rose latte before but it was from different cafes. It was really good klau orang tu taknak coffee yang terlalu pahit. Dia rasa manis and fragrant rose tak kuat sangat 👍🏻
