Iftar at Neighbours Coffee Bar

Hello guys, ready for some mouthwatering food post? If you are reading this in the afternoon, please come back again and read it after you open your fast because I don't want to be blame if you find some of my shot mouthwatering in this fasting month. Okay, I'm just going to jump into it. This is actually my first time iftar at a cafe because your girl here is more of a bazaar and eat at home kind of person when it comes to eating in the month of Ramadan. It was my sister's idea to eat there because she saw some souffle pancake photos on the internet and then she saw my previous instagram photos so that didn't help either then she said "let's have something to eat here (while showing photos of the cafe) for Iftar this weekend". So here we are guys.

To be honest, I was worried they won't enjoy themselves or they would find the food overpriced (we all know about food prices of cafes in KL) or the food portion is too small or just any excuse they can come up with to justify their dissatisfaction of a certain choices of eateries. My family is a very big eater. Sometimes, a plate won't be enough for each of them because cafe foods mostly did not come in generous portion, only certain cafes does that.

We were welcomed warmly by all the staffs and they immediately assisted my brother-in-law who was holding my 2 months old nephew. I know what I want so I didn't waste my time reading the menu and I passed on their coffee, I just had plain water that day. I held my nephew in my arms while my sister and her husband placed our orders at the counter. The staff later came out with the cutleries and we find it cute that they even gave us kiddie bowl with fork and spoon. It's too early for the baby to eat anything yet, but I love how thoughtful they are.

And while waiting for them, my eyes was glued to their latest dessert from their menu, the Burnt Cheesecake inside the dessert display case. And seconds later, the cake was on our table. Turns out my brother-in-law who ordered it and he said it looks so good on the display so he wanted for all of us to try and I was like "hell yes!" and I couldn't stop snapping. It's so beautiful.

Later, the brought out our drinks (well not mine but you get it). They had a couple of table with bottles and bottles of plain water and paper cups on it for all the patrons to take. One in the center of the room next to the coffee machine and another was by the door. It's free and knowing me, I like cafes that serves free drinking water.

Both husband and wife love pasta and you know what's funny? We came here because my sister was craving for the pancakes but look what she got? A friggin' Carbonara! I don't know what happened to her pancake cravings. I was the only one who ordered the pancake. Ughhhhh HIDAYAHHHHHH! But she's paying so I can't complain on what she wants to eat haha!

I was meant to order the soufflé pancake with chocolate sauce and banana with their 'nama' cream but I guess they ran out one of the sides or ingredients to make that pancake so I ordered the original Fuwa Fuwa soufflé pancake because you can't never go wrong with original flavour.

One more thing, I am so sorry about the lighting. We changed our table to alfresco because after we ordered our food, my brother called and told us he wanted to come over with his friend who's like a family to us so we needed a bigger table. By the time my pancakes was served on the table, it was already dark outside hence the terrible lighting. I tried to fix it but, it became too blinding so I just let did as best as I can.

Me and my sister was in the middle of 'membawang' when she looked inside, a group of chinese girls was busy snapping photos of their Burnt Cheesecake with a bowl of soft serve. And she literally yelp and almost screamed in front of my face "YOU DIDN'T TELL ME THEY HAVE SOFT SERVE!"  How can I tell when I, myself didn't even know about it. And she went inside with my brother (since he just got there and didn't order anything yet), and she bought that damn soft serve and another plate of Spaghetti Bolognese for my brother.

They had seasonal soft serve and this week they have Caramel Milk soft serve which was soooooooo good! I used to take a while to finish a cup of ice cream or frozen yogurt, but this one, I didn't realised that me and my sister finished it in less than 10 minutes. I guess we were too busy scooping it while chitchatting. It was THAT good.

My siblings is a big pasta fan. Everywhere they go, they must have at least one pasta. And so far, their favourite pasta is from Secret Recipe. They said SR's pasta doesn't get old so I am super glad when my sister and her husband said that the pastas from Neighbours Coffee Bar is one of the best they ever tasted. Almost as good as SR's pastas. Phew!

And normally when I go to NCB, I would order either the pancakes or the breakfast menu. This is my first time trying other menus and I must say, they all tasted so good. Hard to pick which one is my favourite. Even my brother and his friend cleaned the whole plate and even cleaned ours too. We shared everything, that way we could taste all the dishes. Hope to have more meal there with all my family members again. So, that was it. I suck at closing so thank you for reading and Ramadan Kareem to all of you my lovely muslim readers. Much love, T.
