Continuing from this post, I'll be taking you guys to one of the biggest duty free mall I've ever seen. Probably the biggest yet, I have no idea. I didn't buy anything by the way, was there to help my friend getting some cheap souvenirs for her family back home. She told me that she read somewhere on the internet about a very famous souvenir shop in this mall so we tried to go there before we headed to Myeongdong for early dinner.
Okay now, anybody who've been to Dongdaemun must've seen this huge duty free mall called Doota. It's really huge and almost impossible to missed, kind of like Shinsegae. High end brands everywhere so to be honest, this mall is not for us, any mall really. haha! But we found something that caught our attention and actually made us stayed more than we intended to. Can you guess? By the bunnies on the photo above? No? If you're a K-Drama fans, you might get the hint. A soldier with a female doctor... ring a bell?

I was trying to photographed my friend when this 'ahjumma' looked at me and started doing that pose, I'm not sure if she was trying to say "don't take photos here where I'm standing" or "you taking photos? Better have me in it." That's why she's in this picture, I'm not sure how to blurred it out so I just leave it here like that cause she's pretty cute to me. This part of the elevator have much less people waiting for it unlike the one at the main lobby, it's like a riot in there, and to be honest I have no idea how we get to this part of the mall, super quiet and I really like that. Excuse my shabby outfit, I didn't know we would end up in a high end mall with thousands of other good looking people.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Okay, so here's the deal. We had no idea which floor the 'famous' souvenir shop located at so we just randomly got off to this empty floor and we almost got scared because there's literally nobody there except for one staff who was just doing her work. I felt like we end up in a place that we're not supposed to. So we pretended to look for the escalator when we realised that we landed in an episode of manmade Descendant Of The Sun's drama. We noticed that the staff gave zero attention to us, so we took that advantage to check out the entire floor.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
The entire floor was dedicated to the famous (at that time) K-Drama, Descendants Of The Sun. It was quite the phenomenal, the drama but yeah, I didn't watch it. I'm one of those people who haven't watch that drama until today but I did read the summary, watched a few clips of their famous scenes here and there. They recreated some of the filming locations in the drama and there's even a bunch of cardboard cutouts of Song Joong Ki for the fans to take pictures with. They even put on the drama if you're planning to watch it. But let's be honest, no one got the time for that. Look how empty the place was. It was just us and a couple of other foreigners.

In my previous post, I promised to share the photo of DDP from above so here it is. It's one of my favourite view when I was there, and still is. I took this shot inside an Ice Cream shop where no one was looking and they were too busy devouring their delicious-looking soft serve.
After 15 minutes spent taking photos for the 'princess', we resumed our main mission and we did found the souvenir store. You can recognise it right away on the 3rd floor, the only store that has a lot of aunties swarming up the place like there's no tomorrow while the tour guide waiting for them outside of the store. And probably the only store where you can hear a Korean guy yelling "Tiga sepuluh ribu! Tiga sepuluh ribu!" (three for 10,000 won in english) while holding up a bunch of 'I LOVE KOREA' t-shirts and chopsticks. Luring all the aunties to buy from him using his charming 'chants' and handsome face. It worked though, my friend bought those t-shirts just because of that guy.

In my conclusion, this mall is not worth visiting. There are plenty of other malls that you can visit and buy stuff with decent price. To be honest, whenever I traveled, I'd try to avoid malls. There's no fun in that but it depends too. This mall is equivalent to Shinsegae (신세계면세점), a high end mall that all tourist would spotted at least one because it's everywhere! I'm not kidding, we even went through it trying to get to the bus terminal which it was connected to. I felt like I slept in a mall waiting for my bus to Busan. The owner must be super rich owning that much mall. Anyway, I will continue my next story very soon.
Thank you for reading, Much love, T.

Hai tqa , patut lah lama menghilang . Bestnyaaa g korea but only u both yang pergi sana .? Yeahh , That k-drama i've only watching 2 or 3 last episodes . Never watching from the beginning . Hahahah , don't know why . Usually the starting is soooo bored .
ReplyDeleteSame goes to me , i'd avoid malls too . For me , every malls was same , there's only a few different outlet and nothing you can find plus , you'd waste your time , huh ..
u and your friend is pretty la . . The colours of your hair so nice .
Hai Sue, sorry lama menghilang. Ni trip lama babe, dah lama baru nak publish hehe! Tqa menghilang sebab internet problem. But now it's fixed!
DeleteSame! Tqa pun tengok the first 3-4 episodes, sampai scene perempuan tu sampai dekat war country tu lepas tu terus tak tengok dah, tak tau lah kenapa, nothing's wrong with the drama though, it's just me I guess hahaha kan? Maybe starting dia biasa-biasa kot.
Every malls is the same to me, same brand different stuff only in a few countries. Oh yesss, definitely wasting my time indeed.
Kalau masuk pun maybe nak survey skincare range. Other than that, memang tak lah.
Well, look who's talking hehe thank you Sue ❤️
i watched DOTS many times hahahaha because that I was bored and am super stress with my final year during my degree so i end up watching to kill time. I might not get excited but yes it maybe a little haha.
ReplyDeleteI don't really like going to the mall and would prefer to go somewhere other than malls to experience cultures and all. I love meeting new people and when you're walking around, you'll get to see so many new things that are worth watching. Dontchu agree. hehe
I did went there and malls doesn't really excites me. At least I'm excited when im at a mall in Malaysia but maybe not there. you know what I meant. XD
Ugh, little inside of me wanting to know the entire plot that makes the drama one of the best. Maybe I really should give this drama another chance. At that time I was caught up with the drama Sweet Stranger And Me (aka The Man Living In Our House) so I ditched DOTS for that. Ugh!
DeleteKan? I hate going to the malls if I travel to foreign countries or somewhere new bcos I think every mall is the same. Like you, I'd rather go somewhere I can see more about their culture and the people.
True! I know what meant. Malls makes me happy too but not when I'm traveling and seeking for new adventures. I'm into heritage places and unique, majestic and classic/post-modern architectures.
Omg yay I can finally reply to your replies. I love it that you've changed to this template.
Deletelove love love
I didn't watch that K-drama also. I wanted to watch but kept delaying it and now, I almost forgot its existence haha. Anyway high five! Most of the times whenever I travel, I'd avoid shopping malls as well.
ReplyDeleteHahaha I thought I was the only one. Good to know. Hahaha same, I wanted to watch it but I kept delaying and here we are, still hadn't watch the rest of the episodes. Yay! the no-mall-when-traveling gang!
DeleteI'd make sure to bookmark all your Korea posts because most of the place you went to semua I tak pernah pergi lol
ReplyDeleteCan you believe it if I say that I bookmarked yours because I look back at all your korea trip post, I too, never been to all the places you went to in Seoul hahaha!
Deletecantik DDP tu! tengok dri atas nampak leper lak hahaha
ReplyDeletetapi unik design dia
Kan? It looks like a deflated balloon from above. The design is indeed unique and to be able to fit a lot of shops inside that is remarkable hehehe
Deletehahaha sama lah blum tgk lagi drama tu padahal dah lama dah hbs download tapi mehhh xtau knp malas nak tgk pulak haha lol
ReplyDeletenow rasa curious pulak dgn muka mamat tu smpai kwn kak tqa terbeli tshirt sbb dia je >.< hahahaha bcs same tho, i selalu terkena gak HAHAHA
Sampai sekarang pun tak tengok lagi drama tu padahal yang lain semua dah khatam dah haha
Deletedon't worry I forgot about his face already. Tapi time tu memang lah ada rasa handsome2 sikit huhuhuhu sampai sis pun hampir terbeli hahaha
Itu semua godaan ~
I didn't watch that drama but their bunnies version are soo cutee!! Apologize to that ahjumma, but I think she'd make a good meme hahaha. And yes, she's cute! Btw, is that your fingers with the blood red nail polish? I adore red nail polish! Would wear it occasionally (you know when) cause I just can't resist it. Sometimes I'd also wear glittery baby pink or rose gold. Ah.. just me being extra tryna ignore the lurking period pain XD
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, it's crazy how they dedicated the entire floor just for that one drama. I mean, I know it was famous, but WOW. Koreans must be super rich LOL.
"Luring all the aunties" hahahaha. Jeez, if he's that cute and charming I'd totally join those aunties, no kidding :p
Their bunnies are super cute right? Guess that's the only thing I like about the whole DOTS thing hahaha *kejam*
Deletehahahahaha still laugh at that photo because she was so random and yes she'd make a good meme ><
Me too! I love blood red nail polish, it goes with everything at all occasions, you know what's up hahaha
Ooooo I love those colours too, being a little extra is okay.
Indeed! Amazing I must say. Malaysia? Now that's a different story. lol!
I was THIS *hand gesture* close to join those aunties but thankfully I managed to hold my horses.
Hahahaha, thank God! XD
ReplyDeletecantik juga tempat tu...
ReplyDeleteada masa teringin juga nak pergi
