S. Korea | Dongdaemun Design Plaza DDP (동대문 디자인 플라자)

동대문 디자인플라자

Continuing from this post, I want to share one of my favourite place in Seoul and I bet everyone who have been to South Korea, will know about this place. Dongdaemun Design Plaza (동대문 디자인플라자), The landmark is the centerpiece of South Korea's fashion hub and popular tourist destination. It's in everyone's to-go list whenever one is planning on visiting South Korea. We walked from the Dongdaemun History & Culture Park station to Doota Mall and straight to DDP about 15 minutes but it doesn't feel that long, more like 10 minutes.

NCT Dream in front of the previously an art exhibition space

I'm not going to lie when I said I was screaming and squealing in excitement because the place and the futuristic architecture that I used to see in Unsplash website, on TV, instagram, influencers blogs and various instagram feeds is only a few steps away from me. I can see it, I can smell it, and I can finally touch it. Normally I would screamed my lungs out when I feel super happy but dekat negara orang ni, kena behave sikit. LOL!

This was the same place that NCT Dream went for their 'date' but sadly, this exhibition space is now has turned into another cafe amongst other tons of cafes in that area. Tbh, we don't need more cafes, what we need is a free working space that opens to public access because clearly that is something that we lack nowadays. Most working space is too expensive and requires monthly fees, and I don't know why we're having this discussion right now, I apologise.

I wish I have more photos of Ashley and Adam but they were behind us with the GoPro and both of us was so excited that we walked so fast to the building without waiting for them. We walked the same path that numbers of fashionista did during Seoul Fashion Week. And if you come here during the season, you can spot some big names or numerous fashionistas from kids to old folks wearing something that even half of us couldn't even pull off. Some would just wear rare and unique style just for instagram feed or just for the fun of it and others really wear something like that, just because that's how they dressed day to day. I. Am. Jealous.

NCT 127 walking down the iconic staircase at Seoul Fashion Week 2017
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
This is the stairs. The iconic Fashion Week stairs that hundreds of celebrities and fashionistas has walked down on and there's me, an unfashionable loser was trying to have that moment just for the experience. So when I have kids, I could tell them that I walked down the same staircase that your 'oppa' did!
Nobody was there so why not be in the moment? Pretend that it was Seoul Fashion Week and struts our way down, or like Ayu did, sat on it. I have a photo of her jumping and sitting on the stairs but I was too lazy to edit a lot of photos, so I'm making this post all about me and a little bit about her ehehehehe
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Above, I attached a few photos of kids at the fashion week, courtesy of Highsnobiety and Artofit. These photos makes me feel 10x uglier, I mean look at those racks!

I don't know about you guys but DDP is one of my favourite architecture of all. I have a few beautiful and majestic architectures in my bucket list and this is one of them. I am in love with the design and how it looks from above ⏤ oh yeah I have a photos of it from above but you need to wait for the next post if you want to see it. I wish I could go around it so I can see the entire place in full circle but we were there for a short time, just to fulfil my bucket list, and even like this I am beyond grateful because some people didn't even get a chance to be here, right?
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
I didn't stay for the LED Roses but I take it as a mission. To come back and make sure to witness the LED roses because it's in my bucket list too. Some people would want to see the tulip field in Netherlands, Sunflower field and Sakura in Japan, I am too but besides those, I want to see the glowing roses as well. It would be fun, well, I hope so. Anyways, I was so happy, I cried. I think that was the second time I cried in South Korea because it was surreal to me. Only God knows how grateful I am to be in a foreign country, a place that was in my mind every second of my life and the first things that popped in my head was
:
I wish Ibu & Ayah was here. I wish my family was here. To see what I see and feel what I feel.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

After all that shenanigans, we got hungry. Like, super hungry so we went back to Myeongdong to find some halal food. I heard there's one halal place in Dongdaemun but we had zero internet access to locate it so we had to say goodbye to it. Took us 7 minutes to get to Myeongdong because it was just 2 stations away. Will continue our journey to one of the best halal stir fried chicken in Myeongdong soon enough ⏤ once I get all the photos ready that is.
So thank you for reading. Much love, T.
